Google releases the Gemini desktop app for Windows worldwide
Google has released a native Gemini desktop app for Windows worldwide. Running on Windows 10 and 11, it gives access to Gemini without switching to a browser and opens over whatever application is in use with the Alt + Space shortcut. Users can hand multi-step tasks to Gemini Spark, Google's personal AI agent, and the assistant can draw on information in Gmail and Google Drive to do things like summarise a project. Gemini Spark and some advanced features require a Google AI subscription, and availability varies by region. The app brings image generation with Nano Banana and video generation with Gemini Omni into the same interface. Google released the Mac version in April and plans to add more desktop features.
