Nvidia's synthetic video detector moves into broadcast workflows

Nvidia has announced an expansion of its software package for the media industry ahead of the IBC show in Amsterdam on September 11-14. The Synthetic Video Detector in that package scores the probability that footage was generated by AI. On the company's own figures, its accuracy stands at 99.3 percent for text-to-video content and 97.7 percent for image-to-video content. Dalet is adding the tool to a cloud-hosted verification workflow for news organizations, while TwelveLabs has built it into its compliance product as a frame-level authenticity score. Wowza, whose engine runs more than 35,000 video deployments in over 170 countries, will distribute the tool through its own framework and enable its use on live feeds; that solution can run on premises, at the edge, in the cloud or in fully air-gapped environments.
