OpenAI reportedly acquires camera imaging startup Glass Imaging

OpenAI has reportedly acquired Glass Imaging, a startup that uses AI to improve smartphone camera image quality. Neither side has announced the deal officially. Reports put its value at more than $300 million. Glass Imaging was valued at about $100 million in its 2025 funding round.

Founded in 2019 by former Apple employees Ziv Attar and Tom Bishop, the company processes raw sensor data with its GlassAI software to reduce lens distortion, blur and noise. Its zoom technology is used in Honor phones. The startup had raised about $30 million. OpenAI has not said what it plans to do with the technology. The company is reported to be working on devices such as a camera-equipped smart speaker and smart glasses, following its $6.5 billion purchase of io Products in 2025.
