Perplexity brings its local agent Portable Computer to Windows RTX PCs

Perplexity has added Portable Computer, a local version of its Computer agent that plans and carries out multistep tasks, to its Windows app. It runs on NVIDIA GeForce RTX and RTX PRO GPUs with at least 24GB of video memory. Work done locally stays on the device and does not consume Perplexity Computer credits. For tasks that need more advanced reasoning, the app asks the user for permission before sending data to the cloud.
Setup comes with a local model such as Qwen 3.8 27B, post-trained for Perplexity Computer, so users do not have to choose models or configure a software stack. Connectors cover Outlook, OneDrive, Word, Google Drive, Gmail, Slack and GitHub. The agent was already available on Linux RTX PCs and DGX Spark systems. NVIDIA says DGX Station support is coming soon.
