Suno releases its v6 model family developed with the music industry
Music generation platform Suno has released v6, its first model family developed together with the music industry. The company says it trained the models from scratch on a new dataset following deals with Warner Music Group, BMG and Believe, and did not reuse the training data behind earlier models. The dataset also draws on user-provided material, and its full scope was not disclosed. The family includes v6 for controlled results, the experimental v6-Wild and a free v6-mini. Users can change a single section of a track through chat and can prompt the model with images, video or audio files. The company is working on a next stage built around individual artists; chief executive Mikey Shulman says artists will choose whether to take part and will earn revenue if they do. Older models will be retired in stages.
